"
This sentence is incomplete, although its sense is clear enough.
May I completed it with "— champions. But champions can be defeated of course."

Mr Dawkins and others could look for a radical view of the Bible at Antipas Ministries. Your web blog is not intended to cover the extreme end of Biblical interpretation, of course.

I would refer readers to Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. White, as you say, got that going and people like Dawkins are doing their best to keep it alive.... Logical Positivism also doesn't have much traction these days, but in our discussion last night, we noted that Lewis would have to face a resurgent pragmatism that argues "truth is what works."
P.S. Anscombe was a committed Catholic. I've never heard her called a positivist. My Reflectionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06398084457749292224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20905577.post-34384150576048952672011-12-06T23:22:14.527-08:002011-12-06T23:22:14.527-08:00Good article. It's a bit amazing to think that the "Warfare Thesis" between science and religion really sprang at the founding of Cornell University as the first University without a religious foundation. The first president, Andrew White, defensively, wrote and lectured to create that myth. which is much repeated today...in most classrooms...even though his work has been discredited as baseless.

Interestingly also, the Positivism of Lewis' day...that was championed by Elizabeth Anscombe at the Socratic Club to stymie Lewis... has also been left in the dust by modern philosophical circles.

Bill Jackson, Oroville CAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
